Even before the Supreme Court ruled gay marriage legal in all 50 states on June 26, Honey Maid, makers of various graham cracker products, has been a vocal supporter of same-sex marriage. The company, who markets their products largely to families and children, has even featured gay couples and gay marriage as part of their “This Is Wholesome” marketing campaign.
Honey Maid’s self-branded graham crackers are one of the top cracker products on the market, and the company also produces Teddy Grahams crackers, Go Bites crackers, and Grahamfuls snacks. Honey Maid is also the official cracker of the U.S. National Soccer teams.
Beginning last year, Honey Maid began releasing commercials and online shorts about American families under their “This Is Wholesome” marketing campaign, including this short, which featured a gay couple:
On June 1, the company posted a picture (shown above) of the gay pride flag hanging in their company headquarters on their Facebook page, with the caption “Happy Pride Month to every wholesome family. Today, we show our pride at our North American headquarters in East Hanover, NJ. How do you show yours? #ThisIsWholesome #Pride.”
On June 26, just after the Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage was announced, Honey Maid posted the following picture and caption on their Facebook page: “Starting today, love knows no borders. #All50 #LoveisLove
It should be noted that Honey Maid has yet to feature any families discussing or practicing their Christian faith. That seems to be something that falls short of their “wholesome” ideals.
