Robber With a Crowbar vs. a Good Guy With a Gun: Guess Who Wins?

Here’s a good rule of thumb: never bring a crowbar to a gunfight. One criminal learned that rule the hard way recently.

According to a report from, a man exiting a Burger King in Tulsa, Oklahoma last night was confronted by a robber wielding a crowbar. The robbery attempt went awry, however, when the would-be victim pulled out a gun and shot the robber in the shoulder. The robber fled the scene but was later found at a nearby hospital.

Tulsa police say the would-be victim was licensed to carry a concealed weapon, and believe he acted in self defense.

What could have been another crime statistic with little media attention (especially from gun control advocates) became yet another lesson in the importance of gun ownership for personal protection. And with a hole in his shoulder, a Tulsa criminal won’t be raising a crowbar on another victim anytime soon.
