Biden’s At It Again! Falsely Credits Himself With Leading Senate Push for NATO to Add Poland

Vice President Biden misspoke on Tuesday, claiming he had led the fight for Poland to join NATO when he served as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Biden, whose tendancy toward gaffes is well known, served as chairman from 2001 to 2003; Poland joined NATO in 1999.

“Fifteen years ago, I was honored, as the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, to lead the fight for Poland’s admission into NATO,” Biden said in Warsaw, Poland, on Tuesday during a visit to reassure allies as Russia moved to annex Crimea...

Russia Presses Ukraine To Pay $2 Billion Gas Debt Amid Crimea Scrap

Russia said Ukraine’s natural gas debt climbed to almost $2 billion and signaled supplies may be cut, ratcheting up pressure on its neighbor as they scrap over the future of the Black Sea Crimea region.

Ukraine hasn’t made its February fuel payment and owes Russia $1.89 billion, according to gas export monopoly OAO Gazprom (OGZD), which halted supplies to Ukraine five years ago amid a pricing and debt dispute, curbing flows to Europe. Lawmakers in Moscow said they’d accept the results of a March 16 referendum on Crimea joining Russia as Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukraine’s premier, reiterated that his cabinet deems the vote illegal.

“We can’t supply gas for free,” Gazprom Chief Executive Officer Alexei Miller said in the statement. “Either Ukraine pays off its debt and pays for current deliveries or there’s a risk of a return to the situation we saw at the start of 2009.”

Ukraine Crisis Means Drill, Baby, Drill

Russia’s invasion of Crimea is a tipping point event that will further spur the American oil boom. But after a while the criticism faded and threats of sanctions were quietly dropped, because the EU is almost entirely reliant on Russia for energy supplies...

Obama’s foreign policy is based on fantasy

FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he said, of Russia’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine, “It’s a 19th century act in the 21st century.”...

What is REALLY going on in Ukraine?

What is really going on in Ukraine?

Reading reports in the American media, that once revered institution which is now nothing more than a struggling source of poorly constructed propaganda, one would think that the Ukraine is in the midst of a pro-European revolution.  According to their fairy tale, former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych was a pro-Moscow tool, ousted only after he refused to let his pro-European citizenry join the EU.  Protestors, they tell us, organized in an enlightened, democratic spirit, to run the murderous tyrant out of the country.  Following this narrative, Moscow’s power in Ukraine has been significantly curtailed.  The protestors expressed the will of the people and are now attempting to establish a pro-western, pro-EU government in Ukraine...
