America once banned slavery and segregation; now it bans trans fats and light bulbs

If you live in New York State, as I do, you must be prepared to accept its culture of deference to bureaucracy. This is a place in which freedom and dignity have been ceded to regulators at all levels. Occasionally, though, there is resistance. It registers mostly as plaintive reflection, not useful action; still, it is comforting to see one’s fellow citizens questioning the premises of what we erroneously call “the nanny state”. (Nannies are employees who perform a useful service, which service has been requested and can be terminated at the employer’s discretion. A better term would be “molester state”, for the advances are most unwelcome and not easily repelled.)...

Politico Writer Claims Republicans ‘Sabotaged’ Obamacare, Compares To Segregationists Resisting School Integration

What an odious piece of garbage.  Today's Politico, in an article by Todd Purdum, accuses Republicans of "calculated sabotage" of Obamacare, comparing their opposition to the "pattern of 'massive resistance' not seen since the Southern states’ defiance of the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education decision in 1954."...
